Review Maelstrom Battalion: Drukhari

Greetings one and all,
Today, we’re going to descend into the dark, shadowed heart of the Drukhari and break down the value of one of Warhammer's latest boxsets, as we review the Maelstrom Battalion: Drukhari.Â
What‘s in the box?
This box contains some of the fastest of Drukhari units. Leading the raid is a Succubus, the leader of a Wych cult and a killer without peer, having killed countless foes in the arena. Following her are 10 Wyches wielding outlashish weapons that can whip out, extend, enmesh, retract, split in two or snap an opponent's blade with the twist of a supple wrist, making a spectacle of death and pain. 3 Reavers provide fire support, appearing on enemy flanks and ripping open hard points, while 5 Hellions dive from above to tear opponents apart with shot and blade. Lastly, Venoms carry the Wyches into battle, ensuring they get to the prey quickly, and they also carry some potent heavy weaponry themselves.
Cost Breakdown
But what is the cost breakdown if you were to get them all separately?
1x Succubus = £18.50
2x Venoms = £54
3x Reavers = £29.50
5x Hellions = £21.50
10x Wyches = £29.50
Box RRP = £105
Total model cost = £153
Saving = £48
As boxsets go, a saving of £48 is really good. It’s great for a starter army as you only need the rule book, so effectively you're already good to go.
Expansion
If I were going to build off this army, I’d grab Lelith Hesperax, another box or two of Wyches and some Raiders, if you wanted to keep with the Wych theme. However, if you wanted to incorporate more Drukhari, the Combat Patrol wouldn’t be a bad shout, giving you greater access to the monsters of the Haemonculus Covens.
Summary
I like this box. I used to have a Wych army, and my lord was it fun. This boxset is great in terms of savings if you want to start your own Wych army or even just add a sizeable detachment to your existing Drukhari force.
