Chaos Legions Combat Patrols

Greetings one and all,

In a previous article, we covered the new Chaos Battle Force boxsets. So today I thought I’d continue the trend and move on to the new Combat Patrols for each of the Legions of the Gods. So, let's get started.

Combat Patrol: Emperor's Children

Combat Patrol: Emperor's Children

This Combat Patrol is made up of 16 models: 1 lord Exultant, 6 Flawless Blades, and 10 Infractors (which can also be built as Tormentors).

1x Lord Exultant = £27

6x Flawless Blades = £76

10x Infractors = £44

RRP = £105

Total = £147

Savings = £42

At a total of £42 this is the lowest of the Combat Patrols we’re reviewing today, but it’s still a reasonable saving. This is a nice, fairly rounded starting force and in my opinion, pairs really well with the Lord of Excess battle force from last week's review.

Combat Patrol: World Eaters

Combat Patrol: World Eaters

There are more models in this one, including one of my personal favourites, the Demon Prince! This Combat Patrol has: 1 Demon Prince (so much better than the old one), 1 Master of Executions, 10 Berzerkers, and 10 Jakhals.

1x Daemon Prince = £54.50

1x Master of Executions = £20.50

10x Khorne Berzerkers = £42.50

10x Jakhals = £35.50

RRP = £105

Total = £153

Savings = £48

This Combat Patrol only saves you £48, which is perfectly fine and reasonable; it’s a good, solid boxset. Add another pack of Berzerkers, and I’d say you’d have a really nice force to put on the table right off the bat (albeit a small one).

Combat Patrol: Thousand Sons

Combat Patrol: Thousand Sons

This boxset of Thousand Suns features: 1 Demon Prince, 1 Tzaangor Shaman, 3 Tzaangor Enlightened, and 10 Rubrics. Certainly an odd box of models, but with plenty of psychic might.

1x Daemon Prince = £54.50

1x Tzaangor Shaman = £25

3x Tzaangor Enlightened = £38

10x Rubric Marines = £40

RRP = £105

Total = £157.50

Savings = £52.50

In terms of saving, you’re getting an extra 50% on the £105 the box costs, and although it’s not a box you’d buy over and over, it’s certainly good value for money. I think this would pair nicely with the Battleforce Box, for a combination of Space Marines and the Warped Servents of the God of Change.

Combat Patrol: Death Guard

Combat Patrol: Death Guard

The last one today is an odd one. At the time of writing, this Combat Patrol boxset has been out of stock for quite some time now. But regardless, I’m sure it will be back the moment I upload this article just to spite me…

So, in this boxset there are: 1 Lord of Virulence, 1 Tallyman, 1 Chaos Rhino, 3 Deathshroud Terminators, and 7 Plague Marines. Not a bad selection.

1x Lord of Virulence = £27

1x Tallyman = £20.50

1x Chaos Rhino = £36

3x Deathshroud Terminators = £40

7x Plague Marines = £38

RRP = £105

Total = £161.50

Savings = £56.50

This boxset has the highest savings out of all the ones in this article. However I can't help but feel it’s been artificially inflated. I’m sure that the Chaos Rhino was £18 when it frist came out, and I do honestly think the Deathshroud are overpriced for what they deliver. But even with my minor gripe, it’s a really good set and one of the few you might consider buying twice. There are some very nice models in there, and it is the only Combat Patrol out of the three to contain a vehicle.

Summary

And there we go, all the different kinds of boxsets of the Chaos Gods broken down to base costs and savings. I think the Combat Patrol: Emperor's Children is the best of the four, but in my opinion, although it’s the worst in terms of savings, the models you get are so much more useful in an army.

Anyway, until next time. Bye.
